Success comes to those who multiply themselves!  No one ever accomplishes anything great alone.  We need people! Success requires a team of people, with one vision and one goal, who unify themselves to achieve excellence!  Below are 5 ways I have found to multiply myself and empower others!

1. Make Your Vision Known.  Write down your vision and make it known!  An organization with no vision will absolutely fail.  Successful leaders build institutions with insight for what’s ahead. These organizations have power for today because their people have vision for tomorrow.  It is our job to paint a picture of the future for our employees. Empowered people who know the desired goal will find creative ways to achieve success! 

2.  Understand You Can’t Do It Alone.  Accomplishing anything of value means trusting others to help you.   As leaders we often think that we’re supposed to bear all of the responsibility.  We believe that the only way to get things done right, is to do it ourselves.  But I can tell you, I’ve tried to control every aspect of my business, and it doesn’t work. When every decision is funneled through one person there is a breakdown in the system.  If you want to grow, you must let go!

3.  Work Within Your Strengths.   I’ve never met a leader who is good at everything.  We all have our strengths and weaknesses.  For example, I have found that I excel in sales, but I am not very organized.  This has led me to surround myself with detail-oriented individuals.  Build your team with people who excel in your weak areas.  Don’t live scared that someone is going to do a better job than you.  Give them the power to create growth within the organization by building on their talents and abilities. This will highlight your leadership skills and make you more invaluable.  Delegate to your team so you can maximize your strengths!

4.  Multiply Yourself.  Letting go of control gets easier when you understand that no one will ever do it exactly like you. Figure out the things that really matter.  What are the key elements required to achieve the results you want?  Let those items become standards within the system.  This way your people know what’s important, but still have the freedom to work within their strengths. The real game changer moment in any leader’s story is when they empower others to lead!

5.  Use Your Team’s Ideas. Emile Chartier said, “Nothing is more dangerous than an idea when it is the only one you have.”   Be willing to open the floor to your team for ideas. People who are able to present their concepts tend to buy-in because they’re invested.  Buy-in produces a passion to see success and profitability improve.  Don’t underestimate the value of innovative thinking.  Your team is a well of creativity that, if tapped, will have radical impact on your bottom line.

You cannot grow beyond yourself unless your vision becomes bigger than yourself!  Remember people are the most important part of any plan coming to fruition.  Build a team that builds people.  Once you begin to deposit into your team, they will bring life and influence to your organization.   These keys to success will take you to heights you’ve never dreamed if you simply learn to empower others!
